After teaching in public school for six years and watching how the profession was changing, that’s when I decided I wanted to leave the classroom and try something different. My passion has always been working with young children, but the system was dampening my potential. I needed to change my trajectory before becoming complacent and start thinking about how to meet the needs of my future family. I wanted to take advantage of my creativity.
My undergraduate degree is in early childhood education. I have the education and background to be able to educate multiple students in different grade levels in a small, personal setting. I have my Read to Succeed endorsement. My creativity gives me the ability to write curriculum and lesson plans without having to be bound to something that was scripted.
Graduating with this Master’s degree is something that will open many doors and help ensure I can continue to grow my career. This degree is the start of future curriculum authoring and a potential opening of a microschool.
This portfolio showcases my ability to collect and analyze the needs of my learners, the ways I am able to meet those needs creatively and a great amount of flexibility and adaptability when the data shows me something I need to change. The work presented should show that I am qualified to hold this degree.
